Cost will be approximately $250 per Syncro but also depend on the number of people in your party. A $250 deposit will be required to confirm your registration for the event.
Registration for Syncro Safari, Canyon de Chelly '12 will be open at 6:00PM Pacific Time on Sunday, April 15th. We don't know how popoular (or not) this trip will be, so having a specific time like this for registration to open is the only way we've though of to make it fair to get one of the 10 Syncro spots.

We've revised the plan for Syncro Safari, Canyon de Chelly 2012 to include a two-day overnight tour through both major branches of the canyon network. This will be Tuesday - Wednesday, July 10th-11th. We'll get to camp near the base of Sprider Rock and have Tuesday evening's meal catered by local Navajo who will prepare Navajo Tacos and mutton stew for our group. We'll also be treted to an exhibition of traditional Navajo Pow Dancing after dinner.
See more information about this overnight trip on the Canyon de Chelly Trails page. Registration dates to be announced soon. Syncro Safari, Canyon de Chelly '12 will take place in northeast Arizona at Canyon de Chelly National Monument. We'll be staying at Cottonwood Campground at the mouth of the canyon and be taking three four-wheeling trips during the week. The highlight of the week promises to be our Wednesday four-wheeling trip inside the canyon guided by a professional Navajo guide.
The Syncro Safari web site has been updated with photos, stories, and other details of our trip.
Syncro Safari, Pacific Coast '11 is now completed! We had 10 vans, 23 people and a lot of fun! More news later.
I'm happy to announce that GoWesty will provide sponsorship for Syncro Safari, Pacific Coast '11 by providing a variety of items for our raffle. GoWesty has been a supplier and a good advocate for the Vanagon and Syncro communities over the years and it's great to see them giving back to our little niche of the community in a fun way such as this.
Also, on Tuesday morning, Aug 16th as the Syncro Safari caravan make its way north up the Caifornia Coast, we'll be stopping by GoWesty for a short tour and continental breakfast. Should be a fun time having an interesting peak behind the curtain to see their operation and facilities. Thanks GoWesty! Jim Well, we filled the first cancelled spot and I'm excited to welcome Mark & Anne Drillock to the trip.
However, Serge, Claire & Ophelie from Albreta won't be making the trip. Seems the restoration is taking longer than planned. Maybe if Serge were a little less of a perfectionist... :-) So, there's still an open spot and Safari is less than 2 weeks away. Time to start planning Taco Night! Jim Due to a move to another state one of our registrants has had to back out opening a spot for someone else. I'm so JAZZED!!! I've finally published the all-new Syncro Safari web site. If you're reading this, you must already know it's at www.SyncroSafari.org.
After years of trying to figure out a low cost, low skill, way to have a web site, I finally did it! YAY!! The old ".com" site is still up for now, but don't bother going to it cause it's frankly a mess. The NEW www.syncrosafari.org site is still in progress, but it's a good start. The site has information about this summer's adventure, called Syncro Safari, Pacific Coast '11 (registration closed, sorry) plus photos and information on these past safaris: - Moab '98 - Colorado '04 - Death Valley '05 - Oregon '07 - Sierras 2010 All of the safaris above have pages with lots of photos and most have information about the trails, etc. Also, you'll find some lists about what to bring on a 4-wheeling trip, vehicle checklists, Syncro Safari news, links to Syncro community sites, etc. Still nothing on the site yet for Yellowstone '99, Mammoth 2000, Baja '01, Tombstone '06, Moab '08, Mount St. Helens '09, but it's a good start. These will come as time permits. There are no doubt a few typos and perhaps a couple minks not working properly and if you notice these, please send me a quick note and let me know so I can get it fixed up. Jim GoWesty Tour and sponsorship for Syncro Safari, Pacific Coast '11.
GoWesty will be sponsoring our Pacific Coast '11 adventure by providing some give-away items that we'll use for a raffle or as awards of some sort. Yay! Additionally, we will offer a short tour of the GoWesty facility on Tuesday, August 16th as we migrate north from the Pismo area to the Big Sur Coast. Thanks GoWesty! Check out: www.GoWesty.com |
