Camp Syncro 2013
Glade Creek Group Campground
Camp Syncro for 2013 was established at Glade Creek Campground on US Hwy 12 along the Lochsa River. The site is about 30 miles east of Kooskia, Idaho and about 7 miles east of Lowell, Idaho. Glade Creek is a group site which was reserved for our exclusive use. Elevation: 1,610 Ft.
Natural Features: The campground is situated between US highway 12 and the Lochsa River on a large bend in the river, which makes the beach completely hidden from the highway. With shade from the surrounding stand of mixed-age conifers and low-growing shrubs, it’s a cool reprieve during the summer. The condition of the beach varies with the river - it was rocky during our stay.
Recreation: Popular activities include fishing and swimming. For the whitewater thrill-seekers, the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River holds exciting floating and kayaking opportunities. There are three hiking/biking trails within two miles of the campground. These trails are also open to motorcycles from approximately June through September.
Campsites: Glade Creek encompasses about one acre and includes four campsites. Two of the sites are located adjacent to the river. There is a group fire ring with benches also adjacent to the river. All four sites have accessible fire rings, ten foot picnic tables, level tent pads and graveled parking areas. Site 2 has an extra table and several tent sites. The spurs are short and not suitable for RVs greater than 24 feet.
Facilities: The campground has one vault toilet.
There is no water system or dumpster at this site.
Campers may use the water and dumpster at Apgar campground, one mile west on Highway 12.
There are no power, water or sewer hook-ups at any of the sites.
There is no dumpster, garbage cans or garbage service at this site. Pack it in, Pack it out.
There is a dumpster at Apgar campground, one mile west on Highway 12.
Guest must perform general site clean-up and trash removal prior to departure.
Space / Size: A maximum capacity of 15* passenger vehicles is allowed. This site can accommodate up to 4 travel trailers less than 24 feet long. Each travel trailer will reduce available parking. Plan Accordingly.
All vehicles and trailers must remain on hardened surfaces within the campsite parking spurs.
* Note: The Forest Service description above states that 15 passenger vehicles is allowed, but speaking with them on the phone, they say 15 is really packed and they considered stating that 12 was the maximum. We had 12 Syncros with 9 parked in the 4 spur plus 3 more Syncros between the spurs. Not ideal, but the location (private group site, right on the river, private beach, close to trails, etc.) more than made up for it.
