A desert adventure across America's most remote desert region.
Experience what it might have been like to see the Mojave in the moccasins of explorer Jedediah Strong Smith in 1826. Our expedition will take in all 140+ miles of the Mojave Road from the Colorado River shores in Nevada to Camp Cady, and then some... This year’s Syncro Safari will be a springtime event to take advantage of the nice spring weather in the Mojave Desert. The dates are Sunday, April 6th through Saturday, April 12th. The venue will be the 140+ mile trek along the historic Mojave Road. While some have done the Mojave Road in just 2-3 days or even at near-race pace in a single day, our adventure will spend five days traversing this route. This will afford us a relaxed schedule and the opportunity to see all the most significant sites along the route. We’ll spend three of the five days travelling along the route allowing a couple additional days for sight-seeing, hiking, bird-watching, “wildflowering”, and photography. June 30 to July 6th we were in North-Central Idaho near the path of Lewis & Clark's crossing of the Bitterroot Mountains in their expedition of 1804-1806. We camped on the Lochsa River, near the Selway River, both designated "Wild & Scenic". We'll took rempote routes to a few spots where Lewis & Clark trekked and camped during their struggle to get across these mountains. Along with river rafting, a parade and other scenic places nearby, this trip was fun as well as rich in history and scenery.
More sites along the Lewis & Clark trail on the western side of the Bitterroots where they were finally able to leave the mountains behind and get aid from the Nez Perce tribe. Included a lunch at beautiful Lewis & Clark Grove.
Syncro Safari provided a fleet of 10 Syncros to participate in the Grangeville, ID 4th of July parade. Great fun showing off our Syncros for a few thousand spectators! Is this a first for a Syncro group in a parade?
Today's trip included a section in the eastern region of the Lewis & Clark Trail in the Bitterroot Mountains including a stop at Colt Killed Camp, Bear Oil & Roots Camp and Indian Post Office. Found: 1 abandoned snowmobile. Repaired: 1 radiator fan resistor.
Took a river rafting float trip down the lower Lochsa and Middle Fork of the Clearwater River. Three rafts, three guides and lunch provided by ROW Adventures! Great fun - we should do this at all Syncro Safaris!
Today's trip: Up the Selway River to Selway Falls, then up to Fog Mountain for a trail ride and view of Selway Crags. Discovered that Fog Mountain is named for the fog of bugs there! :-)
Syncronauts are travelling and arriving at Camp Syncro today! Davis' and Alan Wagner are delayed with mechanical "issues", but are committed to arriving ASAP! Syncro ON!
Well, it didn't take very long this year for all the spots to get taken. Sorry to those that wanted to go, but the spaces are limited. Usually we have at least one and sometimes two cancellations, so the waiting list is worthwhile and can get used. To be placed on the waiting list, just follow the regular registration insctructions.
