Syncro SafariTM, Lassen '23 Overview
Our 2023 Syncro Safari adventure took place in northern California in and around Lassen Volcanic National Park east of Mt. Shasta and Redding and northwest of Susanville. Our "Camp Syncro" base camp was at Butte Lake Group Camp which was centrally located to our scenic routes. The 2023 adventure included, scenic drives, and opportunities for other adventures like hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and more! As is the norm for a Syncro Safari adventure, this was a semi-intimate event limited to 13 Syncros, allowing everyone to get to know the others in the group.

Quick Overview:
Where: Northern California west of Susanville, east of Redding, and north of Lake Almanor
When: August 13th - 19th, 2023
Who: This adventure was open only to Syncros with a 10 Syncro limit. Since 13 registered within the first several minutes, we accepted more then 10 because some always drop out. This year there were NO DROPOUTS, so 13 it was!
What: A week of scenic drivers, adventures, camping, sight-seeing, and recreation with fellow Syncronauts
Why: The beauty of the Mt. Lassen area is amazing and has numerous recreational opportunities to choose from!
4x4 Trips: Although 4x4 trails are the norm for Syncro Safari, this year's trips were scenic drives without 4WD required due to the lack of challenging trails in the area. We’ll did group trips three times during the week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Camp Syncro : We reserved group camping at Butte Lake group camp, which was "Camp Syncro" base for six nights. This spot is central to the area's attractions and to our trips.
Itinerary:
Sunday, Day 1 – Arrive, make camp, make friends at Camp Syncro
Monday, Day 2 - First of three scenic trips - West Prospect Peak
Tuesday, Day 3 – Free recreation day. Probably see some of the park's attractions via paved roads and - TACO NIGHT!
Wednesday, Day 4 – Second of three scenic trips - Lassen National Park Tour
Thursday, Day 5 – Free recreation day. Maybe a visit to intriguing Burney Falls via paved roads.
Friday, Day 6 – Third of three scenic trips - Hat Creek Rim
Saturday, Day 7 – Break camp, say our goodbyes, and head home... or somewhere...
More info: We enjoyed a "Taco Night" group meal, photo scavenger hunts, raffle prizes, and more.
Costs: The cost was $145/Syncro for camping and miscellaneous expenses associated with the event. Additionally, there were seperate entrance fees for Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Climate: Our Butte Lake campsite is at about 6,000ft elevation. Daytime highs were in the 80s and overnight lows were in the 60s.

Our "Camp Syncro" was about 45 miles west from Susanville. Also, about 73 miles east from Redding, CA.
