Our "Camp Syncro" base camp for Sedona '21 in a group site area of Chavez Crossing, south of Sedona. Our site has a capacity of 10 vehicles and 50 people, sufficient for our expectations of 10 Syncros and about 20 people. Elevation: 4,100 feet Chavez Crossing campground web page: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coconino/recarea/?recid=55270 Adapted from the web page: Chavez Crossing offers the creekside ambience and fabulous red rock scenery like other forest camps in Oak Creek Canyon. Fishing and splashing in the cool, clear waters of Oak Creek are favorite activities here. Additional places to hike, sightsee, and swim are within easy traveling distance, too. Campsites at Chavez Crossing are located in a grove of Arizona sycamores and Arizona cypress. Attractions: Waterplay, hiking, sightseeing, photography, shopping Campground Information This campground has 3 group sites and a paved access road. Camping is open from early spring through late fall. Tent sites and group sites open in May and close in September. The campground has no hookups or dump stations. Amenities or Services Chavez Crossing campground has: - Campfire Rings - Grills - Picnic tables - Vault toilets - Drinking water Restrictions - Pets must always be restrained or on a leash - No horses allowed in the campground - Motorbikes may only be used for entering or leaving campsite. - 7 day stay limit - No radios or amplified devices allowed - Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. ‘ - No cutting, splitting, or chopping wood in campground - No portable showers or toilets allowed. Showers There are no showers at Chavez Crossing. Depending on COVID restrictions at the time of our stay, showers may be available with admission to the Sedona Community Pool.
